LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING

SUMMARY

Commonly, sediments with hypersaline pore fluids may contain precipitates of gypsum and/or silica. Rare flint with imprints after gypsum crystals and gypsum crystals replaced by flint from chalk are other examples of the relationship between both minerals. What can a detailed study of these rare finds contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between both minerals and the environment in which they form?
